Jewel in the Hills

Los Altos Hills, California

Jewel in the Hills is a mid-century, Moroccan-inspired retreat nestled in Los Altos Hills, California designed as a second home for an Atlanta-based family. The interiors blend clean architectural lines with rich layers of color, texture, and cultural storytelling. Throughout the home, jewel-toned textiles, vintage Moroccan rugs, and intricate fretwork lighting lend warmth and drama. By night, hand-pierced brass fixtures cast luminous, patterned shadows—transforming the space into a glowing jewel box.

Art sourced from Marietta’s Muse & Co. Gallery introduces a fresh, contemporary edge, while personal and collected touches ground the design. In the dining room, a locally crafted table—made from a 200-year-old fallen redwood and topped with glass—is paired with original Maurice Burke tulip chairs, offering a striking balance of organic material and mid-century form.

The primary bedroom is anchored by a custom Moorish-style bed, set against Schumacher wallpaper and flanked by bold Currey & Co. pendants, creating a layered, cocooned sanctuary. Casual gathering spaces like the sitting room and breakfast nook are softened with plush seating, custom drapery, and textured finishes that blend comfort with style.

Every element was chosen to reflect the clients’ love of travel, family, and art—bringing soul, story, and serenity to this West Coast escape.
